The Pros and Cons of Piercing Training

When it comes to learning how to pierce there are several ways you can start your journey.

Ideally, an apprenticeship in a busy studio, under the supervision of a professional Piercer is the ideal way to learn. If you ever have the rare opportunity to learn this way from an experienced and reputable Piercer – take it!

Unfortunately, due to the very limited number of these positions, many people compromise and “take what they can get”, only realizing when it’s too late that they may have entrusted their career to the wrong person.
To help more people gather the essential information necessary to learn how to pierce safely and correctly, we have designed comprehensive training courses that will prepare you as a useful Piercer upon completion. Ready for all the experience you will need to become competent and confident.

Our trainings are designed for people with a desire to “stand out” from the crowd. To get a job as a Piercer in an industry that is becoming very competitive, usually requires that “you” have something that the other person doesn’t.

This might be:

  • great communication skills
  • some experience from a good studio
  • relevant training e.g. First Aid Certification
  • training in infection control and sterilisation.
  • good presentation and confidence
  • and/or a thorough grounding in most aspects of body piercing

There are many courses now available and it can be confusing to try and work out which ones are going to be worthwhile and give you this good grounding.

No course could ever replace the experience gathered by working one on one with a professional Piercer, given that so many things happen each working day that provide an opportunity to teach something new.

But – when choosing between learning 1:1 with someone who doesn’t know what they are doing, and learning in a course environment from someone who does – the course will win hands down – every time!

Over the years the body modification industry has tended to be very guarded with its information – I too was guilty of this for a very long time. However, as I watched the general quality of piercing and knowledge slide downhill rapidly, I realised I needed to do something to give those who wanted it, the knowledge they were seeking.

The number of Piercers who have been around for more than 15 years –  who were taught the correct way to pierce – is getting less every year. We are choosing to retire from the industry, change careers, or just move on. For our knowledge to persist, it must be shared with people like you who want to learn. You will take it into the future.

Our trainings are fun, informative, and will help you create the beginning of your piercing network. Many friendships have been formed during the supportive environment of the courses.

We offer a variety of courses in many aspects of Body Piercing – and there are many more under development. Please explore the information here and we hope to “meet” you soon.
